Abstract

DEEP GEOLOGICAL STRUCTURE AS A BACKGROUND OF FURTHER PROSPECTIONS IN SW POLAND

Summary
The paper deals with 14 geological structural stages, which occur in the south-western areas of Poland, and it discusses the spatial-time relations between them. There are also presented systematics of deep structures in the light of the overlying units, tectonic forms and their origin. Remarks are also given as to tectonic model that should be established still before any search for mineral deposits, mainly metal ore and bitumen deposits. Moreover, the author presents some deep structures found under the structural stages, i.e. Young Alpine stage and a complex of the Laramie and Cimmerian stages, and discusses the problem of the deep structures within the Variscan structural complex, up to the Old-Variscan stage inclusive, particularly considering the intrusions of granitoids; as well as the problem of the deep structures of the Old-Assyntic stage and of the deepest stages found to occur under the Moldanubicum stage. i.e. an intrusive Young-Assvntic stage represented by basic rocks and by underlying intrusive Variscan stages (granitoids discussed before). Attention has also been paid to the possibilities of metal ore occurrences.
