Abstract

APPLICATION OF STRESS PATH METHOD IN SOIL EXAMINATIONS Summary The article deals with the stress path method and its use during the elaboration of the programme of soil strength examinations. The stress path method allows us to present the results of these examinations in a considerably simpler form without drawing Mohr's circles in greater number. The use of the stress path method makes possible to understand various problems of soil mechanics. The work presents some principles of using the method considered, and shows the relations between the diagrams obtained from Mohr's circles and from stress path method. In addition, the results are given of the strength measurements made for soils that make an about 100 m high escarpment in an open-cut mine.
