Abstract

RENAISSANCE OF OIL PROSPECTION IN THE AREA OF SALT STRUCTURES, KUJAWY REGION Summary The general conception of hydrocarbon prospections in the Kujawy region, presented in this paper, has been based on the following reasons: 1. First of all mother oil-bearing formation of pre-Permian age should be taken into account. 2. Interesting is here a tectonic type of oil deposits, known throughout the world as that related to plug-like salt structures. 3. Gently dipping Zechstein salt series is impermeable to various hydrocarbons in their migration from the older formations upwards. Such a migration may be discussed only in relation to zones of diapir salt structures (Fig. 2). 4. As migration paths for hydrocarbons through the salt series may serve here rigid carbonate members, also sulphate members, in the stages Z1 and Z2, which have previously been dissected along the surface. where the oldest (Z1) salts are thrust over the older (Z2) ones (Fig. 3). The most promising in search for oil deposits in the area of the structure Izbica Kujawska – Kłodawa - Lęczyca. Thus, the explanation of tectonic relations along the south-western wall of the Kłodawa salt plug seems to be the most important task to be solved in the next future.
