O Krzemionkach Opatowskich

Abstract

ON KRZEMIONKI OPATOWSKIE NATIONAL PARK Summary On the occasion of 25 anniversary. of the Polish People's Republic a scientific session 'has been organized on the flint mine at Krzemionki Opatowskie, on the project to found there an archaeological reservation, and on the development of flint mining at the Neolithic time. The session was connected with the opening of an archaeological exhibition arranged in the new pavillion built at Krzemionki Opatowskie as a public museum. The flint fine at Krzemionki Opatowskie was discovered by professor dr J. Samsonowicz in 1922. The Neolithic mines found to occur at Krzemionki Opatowskie and in the neighbourhood area are a monument of .world significance, considerably greater and, first of all, better preserved than other objects of this type in Europe.
