Abstract
QUICK METHODS OF EVALUATING THE BEARING CAPACITY OF SEMI-ROCKY BASEMENT Summary Two methods of a quick determination of admissible strains in a rock-soil basement are presented on the basis of the results obtained during geotechnical research made in the area of the planned dam at Niedzica. The first of these methods, applied in the case of feebly compact rocks, consists in a dynamic driving of a steel blade into the soil by means of the determined force, as well as in a measurement of penetration depth. The second method (applied in the case of compact rocks) consists in a measurement of the resilience oIf rocks by means of a device called resilience hammer. The value of the coefficients obtained during the application of the above methods is converted to the bearing capacity of the basement, using calibration data (diagrams and empirical formulae). The methods discussed in the paper allow us for a more precise representation of the variation of the basement, in relation to the standardized method.Downloads
