GEOTHERMICS OF DEEP COPPER ORE MINES AND GEOTHERMICAL CLASSIFICATION OF THE DEPOSITS

Summary
After 1960 a new area of mineral resources of Poland, i.e. the unparalleled, in terms of size, copper ore deposits at Lublin, has intensely been developed for mining purposes. New mines "Lubin" and "Polkowice" allowed the copper ore deposits to be exploited at a depth from 600 'to 850 m, and after 1970 at a greater depth too. The results of geological reconnaissance point to a far-reaching occurrence of the deposits, even down to a depth of approximately 1500 m. This makes possible to build new mines, under more complicated geological conditions, however. It may be supposed that fighting against thermal menace, carried on by a rational air-conditioning of mine workings, will be one of the main problems of copper mining industry, and appropriate studies, investigations and projects will be intensified according to this problem.
