Abstract

GEOLOGICAL STRUCTURE OF THE SOUTH-EASTERN PART OF THE PERIBALTIC SYNECLISE IN THE LIGHT OF THE COMPLEX GEOPHYSICAL SURVEYS

Summary
Geological structure of the south-eastern part of the Peribaltic. syneclise is presented on the basis of the results obtained during complex seismic research works and from deep drillings. Distinguished are characteristic features of the structure and its development. Three structural-tectonic stages are distinguished crystalline basement, lower Palaeozoic stage and complex of Permo-Mesozoic formations. Block structure of the crystalline basement is emphasized mainly due to various dislocations that play considerable part in the development of the structure of the sedimentary cover. On the basis of an analysis of the materials concerning both the basement and the complex of the Lower Palaeozoic formations the authors present a structural-tectonic sketch for the south-eastern part of the Peribaltic syneclise and give a subdivision into several zones that distinguish themselves in having different geological structure. A lot of large structural elevations found to occur in specific tectonic zones are distinguished, too. Moreover, some regularities related to the occurrence of local structures are discussed. The occurrence of these structures is observed within fault zones and terrace-like planes within structural noses. The first project of classification of local structures into 4 types is presented, based on geological features and on their occurrence in particular zones. Both the regularities and the features of geological structure of the south-eastern part of the Peribaltic syneclise allow the research works to be developed more rationally.
