The article concerns some problems related to the history of ore mining and metallurgy in the light of geological conditions within the area of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains. The author is of an opinion that the studies on history of ancient mining and metallurgy should serve to become acquainted with the material history of the country and to solve the main problems of the present-day geology.
