EXAMINATION OF COMPACT STRUCTURES USING ELECTRON MICROSCOPE
Summary
The present paper presents results of the studies on the structure of cohesive soils carried out by the use of scanning electron microscope. The types and structure of the soils show that the sediments were deposited in brackish environment which resulted in the predominance of face-to-edge orientation of particles. However, the later diagenesis brought about reorientation of the particles of benthonites from Radzionków and Machów. The original pattern of the particles is preserved only in varved clays from Mochty.
