MECHANICAL INSTRUMENTS TO DETERMINE STATE OF SOILS
Summary
The author discusses the application of a simple small gauge for determination of soil characterized mainly by undisturbed structure, under field and laboratory conditions. The construction of the instrument considered has been based on the principle of dynamometer. The examination consists in driving a cylindric measuring probe into the soil, and in reading off the value determining the soil state, seen on the scale of the instrument.
