Abstract

PERSPECTIVES IN SEARCH FOR NEW COAL DEPOSITS OF INDUSTRIAL VALUE IN SW POLAND Summary Within some closely non investigated areas of the Upper Silesia new coking ,coal occurrence regions should be determined and examined, among them Sumina-Ruda region, region situated south of the existing new mines of the Rybnik Coal District, and regions of Kobiór. Zebrzydowice, Kaczyce and Cieszyn. As far as power coals are concerned the investigations should be carried out within the Bieruń-Międzyrzecze region, the Flysch Carpathian margin area, and small areas of productive Carboniferous along the northern margin of the basin. Within the low-promising areas of the Lower Silesia the investigations should comprise the marginal zones of the known coal deposits and the coal content in the Carboniferous strata of the North-Sudetic Synclinorium. As concerns brown coals modern prospecting methods should be used to discover the most promising type of deposits related to Tertiary depressions.
