Abstract
OPOKA AS A NEW MINERAL RAW MATERIAL FOR CEMENT INDUSTRY
Summary
The article deals with the possibility of applying opokas as a supplementary raw material in production of high-resistant cements. Other high-silicate raw materials such as some varieties of marls from Rejowiec, raw materials of a phosphorite-bearing series from the vicinity of Annopol, and deposits of siliceous earth are discussed as well. Both chemical and technological examinations of opokas made by the Institute of Binding Building Materials in Cracow allowed the investigators to ascertain that opokas that contain active silica in an opal-chalcedony form, seem to give the best results in the process of clinker burning.
