Abstract

ALLUVIAL SILTS AS CERAMIC RAW MATERIALS Summary Among the Quaternary clay mineral raw materials alluvial silts, making about 8 per cent of the exploitation of all mineral raw materials for building ceramics, play an important role in Poland. Their occurrence is visibly restricted. These deposits are known and exploited mainly in the valleys of the Carpathian rivers, the Odra river, and the Vistula river, along its entire length. To know the ceramic properties of these formations some trench samples have been taken of the mineral raw materials exploited at present in the brickyards. The results of the examinations supplemented by chemical analyses, and the actual conclusions are an object of this paper.
