Abstract

BENDING AS AN ESTIMATION METHOD OF COMPACT AND COHERENT SOIL STRENGTH Summary Due to the heterogeneity of the intensity of stress the bending tests are rarely used in the examinations of soil strength; nevertheless they can be important in the determination of the strength parameters of soils (both compact and coherent, in the compact, semi-compact, and partly hard-plastic states). The method worked out allows us to determine: - value of relation between reversible deformations and ultimate ones (a); - value of breaking strains (tensional strains Rr); - value of elasticity modulus and deformation modulus under conditions of various degree of load (Es and Ec).
