Abstract

WENDIAN - A BOUNDARY MEMBER BETWEEN PALAEOZOIC AND PROTEROZOIC Summary The paper deals with the present-day data concerning the newly distinguished, still not well investigated and precisely determined stratigraphical unit at the Palaeozoic-Proterozoic boundary. The author discusses its history and reasons of its origin, he mentions some equivalents that make the total knowledge of the Wendian complex, and the sections of the East-European platform, Siberian platform and those of South Australia, as best investigated at present, he discusses in detail. Moreover, he proposes to introduce the notion Wendian to the sections of the platform area of North-east Poland and of the anticlinorium of the Świętokrzyskie Mts., instead of the so far applied regional nomenclature.
