Abstract

PROGRESS IN RECOGNITION AND MAPPING OF TECTONIC PROBLEMS OF THE PERMIAN-MESOZOIC COMPLEX IN POLISH LOWLAND

Summary
The map described here is based on the results of seismic surveys and of general analysis of the development of tectonic processes during and after deposition of Zechstein-Mesozoic sedimentary complex. The seismic survey records considered here primarily include depth maps of various seismic horizons, which show faults, fault zones and local structures outlined by the lowest closed isobaths. Seismic sections were analysed in order to distinguish such elements as zones of squeezing-out of Zechsteln salts or zones of larger gradients of increase of thickness, and to define genetic character of local structures. Genetic classification of the structures, applied here, is somewhat expanded as two basic groups - salinar and non-salinar structures - are distinguished. Classification of forms of platform tectonics is undergoing constant modifications. Small scale of the map makes it difficult or even impossible to map mixed forms, i.e. the forms resulting from multi-plane processes characterized by changing and shifting intensity of vertical movements.
