Abstract

CARBON ISOTOPE COMPOSITION OF DEVONIAN AND TERTIARY LIMESTONES Summary Isotope C13 content in Devonian limestones appears to be higher than in Tertiary ones. On the basis of difference in carbon isotope content these limestones may be separated into two groups: (1) grey limestones, richer in C13 isotope, and (2) coarse-crystalline calcites. Stalactite sample from Devonian limestones is impoverished in C13 by about 6‰. Tertiary limestones appears more differentiated in isotopic composition.
