Summary
The basic parameters of laboratory isotope separators are given and applicability of these separators to scientific research is discussed. Particular attention is paid to the use of the separators in studies of short-Iasting isotopes and of the interaction of ions and matter. Some problems connected with the use of the separators in geologicaI and astrophysical studies are also discussed.
