Abstract

SEARCH OF HYDROCARBONS DEPOSITS ON SHELVES Summary The article discusses world demand for oil and gas; in connection with the decreasing land resources of these materials, searching on shelves has been started. With constantly increasing consumption of these raw materials only exploitation of oil and gas fields from the sea bottom, at an ever increasing depth, may balance the deficiency of these fuel materials on the continents. Thus, the examination of any marine sedimentary basins and selection of the productive ones will be the main task of future oil and gas prospecting. The greater part of the paper deals with the progress in oil and gas prospecting on the sea; the present technical possibilities of hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation are stressed.
