Abstract

CURRENT TASKS CONNECTED WITH ESTIMATION AND DISTRIBUTION OF GROUNDWATER RESOURCES Summary The paper presents a review of the developments in some more important fields of prospecting hydrogeology in years 1968-1973. Particular attention is paid to the problem of regional studies and to some aspects of present-day documentation of groundwater resources of various intakes. A classification of regional surveys is given and general recommendations for particular surveys are characterized in connection with the suggestions of the Geological Institute. In addition, the concept of deficit area is defined. Analysis of developments in well drilling showed certain insufficiency connected with a limited use of well-logging techniques, outdated drilling techniques, and inadequate measurement devices and price lists. As regards research-documentation works it was proposed to amend the instructions concerning estimations of groundwater resources. The amendation should be carried out in such a way as to introduce time differentiation of resource prognosis depending on the degree of recognition, i.e., up to 10-25 years, 5-10 years and 3-5 years for the categories "C", "B" and "A", respectively.
