POSSIBILITIES OF UTILIZATION OF SLATES FROM THE FLYSCH CARPATHIANS TO PRODUCTION OF LIGHT AGGREGATES
Summary
The paper discusses possibilities of utilization of clay slates occurring in the Flysch Carpathians. The slates were hitherto considered to be a rock material of subordinate economic value. The clay deposits occur in various tectonic and stratigraphic units of the Flysch Carpathians. They differ in macroscopic appearance, chemical and mineral compositions, physical and mechanical parameters, and mode of occurrence. The studies recently carried out have shown applicability of the Flysch slates to production of light aggregates.
