Abstract

THE IDEA OF ECONOMIC UTILIZATION OF NEW QUARRYING REGIONS OF ROCK DEPOSITS FROM EASTERN PART OF THE HOLY CROSS MTS

Summary
Geological surveys, carried out in the eastern part of the Holy Cross Mts, shown concentration of over 30 deposits of valuable Devonian carbonate and silicate raw materials (limestones, marly and dolomitic limestones, dolomites, and sandstones). The deposits are not continuous but rather scattered, which necessitates elaboration of a detailed programme of their economic utilization. Four quarrying regions (Figure) have been distinguished by the present authors on the basis of differences in spatial concentration of the deposits. These regions will vary in their production characteristics because of differences in physical and chemical properties of raw materials. Therefore, it is necessary to make separate regional geological analyses of particular quarrying regions and a complex regional programme of utilization of natural resources of these regions.
