Z badań mineralogicznych nad lessem ze Zwierzyńca w Krakowie

Abstract

MINERALOGICAL STUDIES ON LOESSES FROM ZWIERZYNIEC, CRACOW AREA Summary Results of mineralogical studies on upper loess horizon at Zwierzyniec near Cracow are given. Raw samples of loesses were separated into size classes and subsequently studied by microscopic, X-ray, and infrared spectrophotometric methods. The results obtained were used in attempt to Identify .authigenic minerals. The clay minerals are represented by illite, montmorillonite, kaolinite, and by minerals with mixed, illite-montmorillonite textures. The results obtained are discussed on the background of recent discussions on the origin loesses.
