Abstract

SOME EXAMPLES OF ECOLOGICAL INTERPRETATION BASED ON FORAMINIFERS FROM THE TORTONIAN OF KORYTNICA Summary The problem of applicability of foraminifers to the paleoecological analysis is discussed on the basis of literature and the author's data. Attention is paid to the mutual interdependences and relationships between the foraminifers and their environment. Several physical, chemical, biological and geographical factors influencing the qualitative and quantitative composition of foraminifer assemblages are listed. The problem of dwarvish and impoverished foraminifer assemblages is briefly discussed and the enormous effect of the trace elements on the development of such foraminifer assemblages is emphasized
