Abstract

OCCURRENCE OF INTERGLACIAL DEPOSITS AT ROŻKI (SW OF RADOM) Summary In the Geological Institute archives there are profiles of two drillings made by the industry in 1952. At the depth of 4 m the drillings entered humus deposits passing downwards into peats with sandy intercalations and 5 m or 8,1 m in thickness. The humus deposits are covered by fine- and medium-grained sands with silty intercalations, presumably representing fluvial-periglacial deposits common at the top of the Younger Interglacial outside the extent of the Youngest Glaciation. Beneath the peats the drillings penetrated sandy gravel layer 0,8-0,9 m thick and entered tills. Presumably fluvial deposits of the Eemian Interglacial are represented in these profiles. Unfortunately the core material is lost.
