Abstract

STRATIGRAPHY OF THE OXFORDIAN OF CZĘSTOCHOWA AREA Summary Analysis of rich Mid Oxfordian ammonite assemblages (about 40 genera and subgenera and over 80 species) from the areas SE of Częstochowa has shown their Submediterranean character. Zonation made (Table 1) showed that the lithostratigraphic subdivision hitherto accepted is inappropriate (Fig. 2). The record of Subboreal elements in the ammonite assemblages as well as analysis of literature made it possible to establish a modified correlation of the Subboreal and Submediterranean zonal schemes (Fig. 1).
