Abstract

PERSPECTIVES IN THE SEARCH FOR TIN ORE DEPOSITS IN THE LIGHT OF METALLOGENY OF SUDETES

Summary
On account of the existing direct data concerning perspectives in search for tin ore deposits, the area of Sudetes may be thought to belong to the most promising ones within the state boundaries of Poland.
Chemical character of tin, and its genetical relation with the acid magmatism restrict the occurrence of this element, in the perspective area, only to the acid intrusions and their country rocks. An analysis of the metallogeny of Sudetes allows to state that within this metallogenic province only Variscian epoch was characterized by an acid magmatism phenomena. It should also be stressed here that the tin deposits found in Sudetes may be referred to the European tin province of Variscian age.
Direct and indirect prospecting data permit also to accept the following massifs of Sudetes and perspective regions: Łyżyce, Karkonosze, Strzegom and Strzelno, the country rocks inclusive. Geological works should be conducted to determine the metal contents in these intrusions, as well as the complex of elements genetically connected with the acid magmatism. The first stage of these works should determine the spacial extent of the granite massifs of individual varieties, resting under the Tertiary and Quaternary overburden and define the character of near-contact changes. Moreover, it should explain traces of pneumatolytic and hydrothermal processes, as well. In this stage of works geophysical, geochemical and petrographical methods are the main ways to be used during investigations.
