Abstract

SHAFT WELLS WITH FILTERS

Summary
Underground water intakes were so far made mainly as tubular (drilled) wells and shaft (dug and secured) wells. Both kinds of the wells are characterized by a fact that the individual wells, regardless of their construction, are relatively low capacity. An increasing demand for water forced the water supply technics to search for solutions allowing to collect large amount of water. Such a task may toe performed owing to the new type shaft wells with horizontal filters. Wells of this type are made according to the Ranney, Fehlmann and Preussag methods. To inform about the dimensions and yield of the shaft wells equipped with horizontal filters, the author presents some data in tables concerning 23 wells.
