STRUCTURE OF THE NIDA TROUGH IN THE MARGIN OF THE ŚWIĘTY KRZYŻ MTS AND POSSIBILITIES OF OIL AND GAS OCCURRENCE
Summary
Traces of the bitumens in the marginal area of the Święty Krzyż Mts. and in the Nida trough have for a long time been known in Poland. To investigate the possibilities of occurrence of oil and gas in these areas a series of drillings in deep structures was executed. The bore holes have encountered oil and gas-bearing horizons. A reconstruction of the Nida trough structure and the knowledge of the influence of individual orogens and of orogenic phases upon the origin and formation of the trough and of its substratum allow to solve the problem of occurrence of a deposit in the area discussed.
