Abstract

GEOLOGICAL SECTION OF BORE HOLE KOŁBIEL Summary The present article gives some results of bore hole made at Kołbiel in the eastern part of the Warsaw synclinorium. The main purpose of the drilling was to investigate lithostratigraphical section, since seismical materials had demonstrated the presence of a large elevation of the Palaeozoic basement in the area considered. In addition, the drilling aimed at presenting perspectives of occurrence of mineral raw materials in the Lower Cretaceous, Jurassic, Triassic, Zechstein, Carboniferous and Silurian, and at showing possibilities of probable occurrence of bitumens accumulated within the zones of stratigraphical unconformities. The bore hole also gave valuable information on geological structure of the region considered, and on its mineral raw material perspectives. Gas manifestations, which have been here ascertained, show that favourable conditions may exist for bitumen accumulations in the area studied, as well.
