Z historii użytkowania wód mineralnych w okolicach Piwnicznej Zdroju
Abstract
ON THE HISTORY OF USING MINERAL WATERS IN THE VICINITIES OF PIWNICZNA ZDRÓJ Summary The valley of the river Poprad and its adjacent areas are characterized by the presence of numerous carbonated acidulous springs that have influenced the development of several health-resorts in the area considered. The first mineral springs were discovered in 1814 at Głębokie, in the vicinities of Piwniczna. A small health-resort established there at that time persisted till 1914. On the other hand, the development of a spa at Łomnica dates back to the year 1910, in which a small bath-house and a well-room existing up to the World War II were built. Only in 1932 and 1934 the bore holes „Piwniczanka 1" and Piwniczanka 2" were sunk at Piwniczna to supply mineral waters. Bath-houses and well-room were constructed at that time. At present, Piwniczna is an active health-resort, those at Łomnica and Głębokie are, however, down-at-heel and on the decline. Probably within the framework of the so-called „Nowy Sącz experiment" new works will be undertaken aiming at the use of rich resources of the mineral waters occurring in the area under consideration.Downloads
