Abstract

IMPORTANCE OF GEOLOGY IN DEVELOPMENT OF CERAMIC INDUSTRIES IN POLAND

Summary
The results of an analysis of the present state and of development trends of the ceramic industries are, in comparision with the degree of knowledge of the country's resources of mineral raw materials, a basis to determine purposes for geological and technological research works. At present, the ceramic industries in Poland produce several times more goods than before the war. A considerable development of those industries is foreseen and increase in assortment is being planned.
The author gives information on the resources and output of kaolins, fire days and fi re shales, stoneware clays, clays and loams for production of building elements, quartz, quartzites, quartz sands, magnesites a.o., and determines how and why the proper researches should be made. He sees great perspectives of these researches and possibilities of decreasing costs in carrying out the research works. The positive results of these research works depend upon a close co-operation of geologist, technologist and projector of constructions.
