STUDY ON INFLUENCE OF HYDRODYNAMICAL CONDITIONS UPON STABILITY OF EARTH EMBANKMENT

Summary
The article presents an analysis of earth d am slide caused by a rapid decrease of water level in a reservoir (5 min 10 hours), due to the failure of weir gate. Owing to formation of hydrodynamical forces under difference of pressures, two earth slides have originated, the earth slide No I of a volume amounting 4500 m3 , and the earth slide No II of about 2000 m3. Table I gives computations of safety coefficient mady by various methods for escarpments, with or without hydrodynamical forces taken under consideration.
It was ascertained computations made that the hydrodynamical forces have lowered the safety coefficient about 40 per cent, in relation to the incipient state.
