REMARKS ON GEOLOGICAL AND GEOPHYSICAL INVESTIGATIONS IN THE RYBNIK COAL DISTRICT
Summary
The author discusses the problem of necessity to conduct geological and geophysical investigations in the area of the Rybnik Coal District. The geological-mine conditions existing in the RCD-area, untypical of the Polish mining, above all due to the strong gas contents in the Carboniferous formation, force to make numerous studies connected with this problem.
In the case of the Rybnik Coal District situated in the southern part of the Rybnik region, where the rock complex has not so far been disturbed by exploitation, the problem of the investigations mentioned above is very important not only for the future mines, but also for the Polish mining, in general, this being connected with a possibility to explain various complicated phenomena, and to obtain numerous informations important for science, technics of mine construction and safe exploitation of deposit.
