Abstract
ACHIEVEMENTS IN PROSPECTING GEOPHYSICS IN XX YEARS OF POLISH PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC
Summary
The author presents some considerable achievements in prospecting geophysics, obtained during the 20 years of the Polish People's Republic. They are reflected in the quantitative increase of active geophysical staff, in augmentation of publications and archival papers of great scientifical and documentary importance, in the increase of precise equipment, special apparatusses, means of transport, workshops and laboratories. This may also be observed in the progress concerning methods of field, office and interpretatory works.
Depending on needs, there are applied in Poland all the classical methods of prospecting geophysics, i. e. gravimetric, magnetometric, seismic, reflextion, refraction and geoelectric surveys, as well as drilling geophysics a.o.
To the main achievements of prospecting geophysics in Poland belongs elaboration of synthetical general maps of gravity field anomalies, maps of the Earth's magnetic field for the whole area, as well as structural maps of key seismical horizons for the areas selected.
The investigations made were a basis for considerable discoveries, f. ex. of salt structures at Rogóźno, Łęczyca, Kłodawa, Lubień, Mogilno a.o. The seismical works carried out have also allowed to establish the dimensions and the resources of these deposits and to determine their economical importance.
