Abstract

CENOZOIC TECTONIC PROCESSES IN SZCZECIN BASIN

Summary
An analysis of a seismic profile with good borehole record has shown that the Cenozoic of the Szczecin basin behaves similarly as the underlying folded Mesozoic strata, i.e. it is the thickest in the synclines, wedging out over the anticlines. A map of the base of the Cenozoic, made on the basis of the borehole data, shows that this is a regularity throughout the Szczecin basin. This gives evidence that the folding of synclines and anticlines in the Szczecin basin did not cease in the Maestrichtian but still continued in the Cenozoic.
