Abstract

ESSENTIAL CONDITIONS FOR EXPLOITATION OF SHALLOW LAYER SULPHUR DEPOSITS BY HOT-WATER MINING Summary The concept of "shallow-seated" sulphur deposits exploited by hot water melting method is introduced for deposits with an impermeable blank-et 30 to 75 m thick. The equation for hydrodynamic equilibrium of pressures of pumped-in and deposit waters and the problem of repressional pressure are discussed. Attention is drawn to difficulties which may occur during the exploitation of very shallow deposits with the blanket 30 to 50 m thick.
