Abstract

A REVIEW OF RESULTS OF CURRENT GEOLOGICAL STUDIES IN THE ORLICKIE MTS. Summary Stronie series in Orlické h. Mts. (SE Bohemia) consists of lower and upper mica shists. Around their contact there appear different interlayers. Antiformal structures are build up of granite-gneisses, in synformal structures in between the supracrustal rocks are present. Zábřeh series is characterized by tonalite magmatism going together with frontal feldspatisation and formation of pearl gneisses. As overlying complex is represented by Nové Město series consisting of two different phyllite strata. Nové Město series is deformed in open major folds (km) with intensive deformation visible in more detail. Both complexes, i.e. Nové Město and Stronie series are divided by a significant tectonic line. Regional metamorphism progressivelly increases from West to East, from chlorite zone through biotite zone up to garnet zone. Stronie as well as Zábrěh series belong to garnet zone. The final metamorphic process in Orlické h. Mts. has an retrogressive character connected with remarkable granitic activity. Lamprophyric dykes giving radiometric age of 390-363 m.y. (K/Ar) are younger than this latest tectonometamorphic event.
