Abstract

MECHANISM OF SLOW ROCK-FALLS FROM SZCZELINIEC WIELKI IN THE SUDETY MTS. Summary Slow rockfalls from slopes of Mt. Strzeliniec Wielki result from thermal deformations originating in thick-bedded sandstones of the lower horizon of the Upper Turonian, cut by vertical joint. The deformations are connected with diurnal cycle of heating and cooling of rounded stones which are the products of weathering of bedded sandstones of the upper horizon of the Upper Turonian, entrapped in vertical fissures in the sandstones of the lower horizon.
