Warunki akumulacji bituminów w strefie miocenu przykarpackiego między Przemyślem a Tarnowem
Abstract
CONDITIONS OF BITUMEN ACCUMULATION IN THE NEAR-CARPATHIAN MIOCENE ZONE, BETWEEN PRZEMYŚL AND TARNÓW Summary The occurrence of bitumens in the near-Carpathian Miocene zones connected with the presence of argillaceous- arenaceous series, elevated, in general, along the orographic margin of the Carpathians. The deposits of the autochthonous Miocene are here potential reservoir rocks for gas. Beside some gas deposits discovered in this area, also oil occurrences have been ascertained. On the autochthonous Miocene deposits there occur folded Miocene deposits of Stebnica overthrusted from the south and overfolded, in turn, by the Carpathian flysch. Both the Stebnica and the Carpathian overfolds cut the autochthonous Miocene deposits and give rise to a characteristic elevation of these latter, thus forming favourable structures for bitumen accumulations. In the last years, a series of new occurrence sites of Stebnica Miocene deposits has been discovered, during the geological-prospecting works, along the Carpathian margin from Przemyśl in the west. This proves not only an extension of these deposits in the western direction, but also an extension of the so-called deep flysch structures which, as it is known, are covered by deposits of the Stebnica formation.Downloads
