Abstract
THE BASE OF MORE IMPORTANT MINERAL RAW MATERIALS EXPLOITED IN OPENCAST WORKINGS
Summary
The author discusses in brief the importance and the role of some mineral raw materials in the state economics. The problem concerns raw materials which might economically be exploited using opencast system. To resolve the problem, an estimation of raw material basis providing the demands of industry, has been made, thus the following raw materials have been analyzed: hard coal, brown coal, sulphur, ferruginous ands, siliceous rocks for production of fire-proof materials, magnesites, dolomites, fire-clays, calcareous rocks, gypsums and anhydrites, natural ballast stone, filling sands, clays for constructional ceramics, silicate sands, as well as building and road stones.
It results of the analysis presented that in Poland there exist a considerable and diverse raw material basis to develop the open-pit mining. The brown coal deposits are very important there. On account of their resources and due to the possibility of increase of these latter, the brown coal deposits are base of intense development of energetics.
