Abstract

METHOD OF COMPLETE EXPLOITATION OF FAUNA FROM A DEFINITE ROCK MASS IN THE MIOCENE OF THE CARPATHIAN FORELAND

Summary
Scarce exposures containing microfauna, and bad state of preservation of this latter in the Miocene of the Carpathian piedmont area between the Dunajec and Wisłoka rivers, cause difficulties in parallelization of sediments. The authoress, basing on her own experiences, gives the method of exploitation of the Miocene fauna, allowing to obtain the maximum and objective faunistic data. The method under discussion depends upon collecting all the fauna remains existing in a volumetrically determined (quantity of sq. m.) sediment, independently of the state of gathered remains. The faunistic material, collected in this way, is divided, according to its state of preservation into three groups: I, II and III (see photograph in the Polish text). Thus, the material is the basis for a correlation of the points being parallelized by means of existing quantitative and species data (Fig. 2 of the Polish text).
