Abstract
TECTONIC DEFORMATIONS VERSUS METAMORPHISM (SOME REMARKS ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF VIEWS)
Summary
Various types of relations between tectonic deformations and metamorphism are illustrated on the basis of several field examples taken from the literature (2, 4, 7, 8, 13) and the author's own experience (14). Three principal hypotheses on the sources of regional metamorphism, proposed in the past by geologists, are briefly characterized and discussed in terms of tectogenic movements (1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12). Finally, direct relations between the Earth crust deforming movements and the world-wide metamorphism are considered in the light of plate tectonics achievements (6).
