Abstract

THE USE OF WELL LOGGING RADIOMETRIC METHODS FOR QUANTITATIVE DETERMINATION OF LITHOLOGICAL COMPONENTS AND PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF SANDY-CLAY ROCKS

Summary
Constant increase in the accuracy of radiometric measurements, the introduction of calibration and standardization of probes and, finally, of new types of gamma-gamma probes for determining volume weight markedly increased the range of geological problems solvable on the basis of well-logging data. Actual possibilities of utilizing neutron-gamma, gamma, and gamma-gamma logging methods for determining lithological components, effective porosity, and volume weight of rocks forming borehole section are illustrated on an example of the results of geophysical studies of sandy-day Devonian rocks penetrated by Wilga IG-1 borehole. Accuracy of various radiometric methods is discussed and the results are compared with those obtained from laboratory analyses of core material.
