THE CHARACTERISTICS OF GROUNDWATER CHEMISTRY AS AN INDIRECT INDEX FOR OIL AND GAS PROSPECTING
Summary
A detailed analysis of new data concerning the hydrochemistry of the Paleozoic and Mesozoic made necessary a further modification of the classification proposed by the author in 1969. This classification enables presentation of variability in chemical composition of waters with regard to their genesis and chemical alterations developing in the course of long-term geological processes. The new modification takes into account mineralization within the scheme of the subdivision of waters of lower hydrochemical zone according to their chemical composition. Moreover, two additional classes are introduced for brines genetically related to lye from lower zone of artesian basin with limited water exchange
