SOME REMARKS ON MODERN CLASSIFICATION OF SEDIMENTARY ROCKS
Summary
A historical outline of the classification of limestones and its new modifications are discussed in the paper. A selection of schemes from the point of view of their applicability for petrographers and geologists is also given. The paper summarizes currently used textural classifications of limestones and it present the author's evaluation of the progress in the limestone classification. In the author's opinion, the present classification of clay rocks is unsatisfactory, however no other -more efficient or consistent classification is offered.
