Abstract

THE NATURE OF RECENT VERTICAL CRUSTAL MOVEMENTS Summary Geological data and measurements recently made indicate that recent crustal movements from a given area may reveal prolonged trends on one hand and they may be characterized by different, summing up periodic or quasiperiodic movements on the other hand. For appropriate estimation of sign and velocity of the recent crustal movements it is necessary to take into account a precise dating of measurement at every measurement point as well as to increase the number of both measurements points and measurements taken at every point. This should make possible the use of modem computation techniques for obtaining more complete characteristics of these movements and more precise evaluation of interrelationships between them and changes in the stress field of the Earth crust.
