Porównanie podziałów biostratygraficznych górnej kredy i paleogenu jednostki dukielskiej na podstawie otwornic planktonicznych i nannoplanktonu wapiennego
Abstract
COMPARISON OF BIOSTRATIGRAPHIC SUBDIVISIONS OF THE UPPER CRETACEOUS AND PALEOGENE OF THE DUKLA UNIT ON THE BASIS OF PLANKTONIC FORAMINIFERS AND NANNOPLANKTON
Summary
Planktonic foraminifers and calcareous nannoplankton appeared useful for establish biostratigraphy of the Upper Cretaceous and Paleogene of the Dukla Unit from the Polish Carpathians (Fig. 1). The results of detailed studies on the two groups of microfossils were used in construction of two equivalent biostratigraphic schemes. The paper presents correlation of these schemes. NoncaIcareous deposits of the Globotruncana stuarti Zone (Upper Senonian) do not yield nannoplankton. Lower part of the Globigerina triloculinoides - Globigerina varianta Zone partly corresponds to the Fasciculithus tympaniformis Zone (NP 5), upper part of the former corresponds to the Heliolithus riedeli Zone (NP 8), and the uppermost part of this foraminifer zone - to the Discoaster binodosus Zone (NP 11). The Globorotalia subbotinae Zone (Upper Paleocene - lowermost Lower Eocene), corresponds to the Marthasterites tribrachiatus Zone (NP 12). The coccolith assemblages from the Globanomalina wilcoxensis Zone (Lower Eocene) do not yield stratigraphically important species. Lower part of the Globorotalia densa – Turborotalia rotundimarginata Zone (uppermost Lower and Middle Eocene) corresponds to the following nannoplankton zones: Discoaster sublodoensls (NP 14) and Chipragmalithus alatus (NP 15) whilst the uppermost part of the foraminifer zone was found to represent an equivalent of the Discoaster saipanensis Zone (NP 17). The Globarotalia cerroazulensis Zone (lower Upper Eocene) corresponds to the Istmolithus recurvus Zone (NP 19). The Sphenolithus pseudoradians Zone (NP 20) was, Iocally evidenced within the Globorotalia cocoaensis Zone (higher Upper Eocene). The specific composition of the nannoplankton. assemblages recorded in the foraminifer zone Turborotalia increnescens – Globigerina amplipertura (uppermost Upper Eocene - Lower Oligocene) made it possible to differenitiate local nannoplankton zone Sphenolithus distentus - Sphenolithus ciperoenisis (lowermost Lower Oligocene).
