Abstract

ON THE POSSIBILITIES OF USE OF INFRA-RED MICROSCOPY TECHNIQUE IN MINERALOGICAL-PETROGRAPHIC STUDIES AND ESPECIALLY COAL STUDIES Summary The infra-red microscopic techniques are not widely accepted in petrographic and mineralogical studies carried out in Poland. The author discusses the possibilities of use of these techniques in studies on ore minerals and coals. The studies carried out by author were fragmentary but they have shown that this technique is of both theoretical-cognitive and technical significance especially for the studies of coals and more precisely for measuring light refraction coefficient of coals.
