Abstract

CHANGES IN THICKNESS OF THE PERMIAN AND TRIASSIC IN SEISMIC IMAGE OF SELECTED PARTS OF THE PERMIAN BASIN AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON ACCUMULATIONS OF HYDROCARBONS Summary The changes in seismic record within the Triassic are known for years but no greater importance was attributed to them. A detailed analysis of that phenomenon has shown that in the zones of seismic changes there are marked changes in thickness of the Triassic and Zechstein, resulting from vertical and horizontal tectonic movements. The changes were analysed in detail in central parts of the Fore-Sudetic monocline but with the use of seismic record they may be traced throughout vast parts of the Permian basin. The analysis of spatial distribution of these zones and the occurrences of hydrocarbons in the Rotliegendes has shown that they are closely interrelated. Therefore, the record of these zones may be of some use in searching for hydrocarbon accumulations.
